Rinse the rice under cold water until the water runs mostly clear.
Add the rinsed rice to a baking dish and spread it into an even layer.
Sprinkle the rice with salt, then pour in the boiling water.
Add the butter, cutting it into small pieces and placing them over the rice.
Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, until the liquid is absorbed and the rice is tender.
Remove from the oven and let rest for 10 minutes.
Fluff gently with a fork before serving.
Notes
You can cover the baking dish with foil for slightly softer rice, or bake it uncovered for a fluffier texture. This method works best with long-grain white rice.
