Ingredients 

  • 1 cup long-grain white rice
  • 1 1/2 cups water
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons butter

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Rinse the rice under cold water until the water runs mostly clear.
  • Add the rinsed rice to a baking dish and spread it into an even layer.
  • Sprinkle the rice with salt, then pour in the boiling water.
  • Add the butter, cutting it into small pieces and placing them over the rice.
  • Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, until the liquid is absorbed and the rice is tender.
  • Remove from the oven and let rest for 10 minutes.
  • Fluff gently with a fork before serving.

Notes

  • You can cover the baking dish with foil for slightly softer rice, or bake it uncovered for a fluffier texture. This method works best with long-grain white rice.
