Ingredients

For the Chicken

  • 2 boneless skinless chicken breasts, halved horizontally
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp butter

For the Sauce

  • 2 tsp flour
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • ¾ cup chicken broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • ½ cup freshly grated parmesan cheese
  • ⅓ tsp thyme
  • ⅓ tsp basil
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • ⅓ black pepper

Optional

  • Fresh parsley
  • Extra parmesan

Instructions

  • Season the chicken breasts with salt, pepper, and garlic powder on both sides. If the chicken breasts are large, slice them in half horizontally.
  • Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the chicken and cook for 5 to 6 minutes per side until golden and cooked through. Transfer to a plate.
  • Lower the heat and sprinkle the flour into the skillet. Stir, then add the garlic and cook briefly until fragrant.
  • Slowly pour in the chicken broth while stirring, then add the heavy cream. Stir until the sauce becomes smooth.
  • Add thyme, basil, onion powder, black pepper. Let the sauce gently simmer.
  • Add the parmesan cheese and stir until fully melted and creamy.
  • Return the chicken to the skillet and spoon the sauce over the top. Let it warm through for a few minutes.
  • Finish with parsley and extra parmesan if desired, and serve warm.

Notes

  • Slice large chicken breasts for even cooking
  • Use freshly grated parmesan for best texture
  • Add a splash of broth or water if sauce gets too thick
  • Serve with rice, pasta, or mashed potatoes
